Modify Classes in the Document Window

IMPORTANT: The safest way to manually modify the number of Class columns in the current data file, is right from within the data file window.

Change the order of columns

You can change the order of your Class columns, within your data file, by simply dragging them from one position to another!

TAKE CARE: you CANNOT undo this action.

Click on the column header showing the name of the Class you want to move (a hint with the name of the Class appears at the mouse cursor) and hold down your mouse button.

Now move the mouse (with the mouse button still pressed) to its new position and release the button.

The column appears on the right side of the target column.

Rename a Class

Renaming a Class in the data file does not influence any future codings. While coding, only the expressions used in the Code Definitions matter.

Right-click in your document header.

Select Rename class from the context menu.

The rename class "<xxx>" dialog appears.

EditClassName

Change the name to your liking.

Click OK to confirm.

Click Cancel to abort.

Add a Class

To manually insert a new Class column into your data file:

Make a right click with the mouse in the top row of your columns
(the one showing your Class names)

Choose Add Class from the upcoming shortcut menu to create a new Class column.

ColumnsCreateDelete

A new Class column named Col# is added.

Double-click the column header to rename the new column.

RenameClassColumn

Type the name of the new Class into the field of the upcoming dialog and confirm with OK.

Delete a Class

If you are sure you do not longer need a certain column, you can delete it like this:

Make a right-click on the header name of the column you want to delete

Choose delete Class from the upcoming context menu to delete the selected column.

Carefully read the upcoming dialog.

If the name of the Class column you want to delete is mentioned, confirm with OK.

WARNING: There is no UNDO for this operation.

Clear all Content from a Class

This command offers the possibility of removing all the observation Codes in one Class, without deleting this Class.

Right-click the column header name of the column you want to clear
(the one showing the Class name)

Choose Clear Class from the shortcut menu, to remove all data from the selected Class column.

Carefully read the upcoming dialog and confirm, if the name of the Class column you want to clear is mentioned.
