Codes and collected data
As always, it is very important to save your data regularly - also during a coding session!
▪Click Start - Current Document - Save
(or press CTRL+S) to save your work, at least every 15 minutes or so.
You can save your documents and Code definition files anywhere you like.
If you work at different locations, storing this information on the license key is very convenient. But you NEED to make regular backups of those files on a local hard drive or a file server, because USB flash drives get damaged or lost more easily than hard drives.
Note: Your collected observational data is stored in the *.xiact files only!
Multimedia References
To ensure the data matches the currently opened multimedia file(s), INTERACT always asks you if you want to link your file to the currently opened multimedia files, the moment you create a new data-file. Those links or file references are entered into the Transcription field of the corresponding DataSet.
If no link is entered, manually link your currently opened multimedia file(s) to your data:
▪Click Insert - Reference - Multimedia to DataSet
to insert a file reference.
For details on file references, read Link Multimedia for Observation.
INTERACT User Data
Where INTERACT expects your Mangold INTERACT Data folder, depends on the location from which the application is started.
If you want to examine the contents of the current Mangold INTERACT Data folder:
▪Click General - Folder - User Data
to open this folder.
▪For further details about the various file types, read INTERACT File Types.
