Import VideoGraph data

To import your VideoGraph observations and transcripts into INTERACT, you'll need to prepare all information in a compatible way. The original *.VDG file cannot be accessed directly, which means that your need to export the required data from within VideoGraph first.

Export your observations (coded data only)

Export your transcripts

Create a code-class-label reference file, following the instructions below.

Create Label Definitions

Because VideoGraph only stores the numbers into its observation file and there seems to be no easy way to export the labels, specified within VideoGraph, you need to create a text file holding the required information:

Enter the name of the Class

Press RETURN

Enter the first number for that Class

Press TAB before you enter the label

Press RETURN to enter the next value and label

Before you start with the next Class, press RETURN twice.

Note: This reference file can be used for multiple imports for the same study.

TIP:Instead of entering all this information manually, create a report in VideoGraph and Copy & Paste the required information into a plain text file.
(Select Coding - Open variable list from the Coding-dialog in VideoGraph)

Transcripts File

If your transcripts file looks like this, all is well. The name of the video in the first line is entered as a video reference into the INTERACT data file.

Note: If you do not have this file, click Ignore to continue the import routine. Your INTERACT data file will contain just the numbers as Codes for each Event. You can rename those numbers per Class afterwards.

Click OK and select the *.txt file that holds your label definitions.

The third dialog asks you to select the *.txt file that holds your transcripts:

Note: If you do not have any transcripts, click Ignore to continue.

Click OK to confirm the dialog and select the *.txt file that holds your exported transcriptions.

The resulting INTERACT data file now holds all your VideoGraph data, as if it was coded right within INTERACT:
