Video File Issues

Replay does not start all videos in-sync

Verify if this Windows registry key is set to true:

Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Medialooks\MFormats\MFReader\decoder.nvidia = true

Without this setting, video control is not accurate enough.

Replay is not in-sync

If the videos do not play in-sync does not necessarily mean the recording itself is off.

Verify the duration of each resulting video file using the Windows properties. (The file size is no indicator, so ignore that)

If the duration is the same, your recordings are fine. What is causing the offset during replay must be identified. Probable causes:

oLack of Resource capacity

oGraphics Drivers outdated

oMissing Registry settings

Resulting videos are out-of-sync

If your recorded videos are really not in-sync (different total duration), these are the most probably causes:

Workload limit - If the recording system is too busy during the recording itself, frames will be dropped; resulting in out-of-sync videos.

Storage trouble - If you chose a recoding location other than a local disc, external forces can interfere, causing out-of-sync videos or even total data loss.

Time Information - If the time information within the cameras is not set properly, the videos will be drifting apart. Because the internal clocks of the cameras are not always that accurate, and might drift over time, we activate the Time Server functionality of Windows 10 and assign the IP number of the VideoSyncPro Studio recording station as the time server to be used by the camera.

Verify if the Windows Time Server is running on the VideoSyncPro Studio recording station.

Verify if the correct IP number is entered as a time server for all cameras.

Note: The Cameras should NEVER be part of the local network, thus using an other time server is not an option.

Video too short

If from some point in time, the (ongoing) recording is no longer part of the video file, the camera has lost connection with its writing process. this might have been only milliseconds, but that is enough to break the process. Windows does not even notice something is wrong.
Known causes:

oExternal Network traffic - that is the main reason why our lab should only be operated with a dedicated camera network, as described in Connect IP Cameras.

oDefective Network Switch - If you are working with a dedicated camera network, in very rare occasions, a malfunctioning switch may cause a variate of unexplainable behavior.

Update to VideoSyncPro Studio Version 3.15.2 or up to receive more messages send by the Axis cameras.

Resulting videos show absurd time information

If the recording video files show an absurd, unrealistic duration, this might also be the result of an unavailable Time Server. There is only 1 documented case that, so far, has not been reproducible.
