An INTERACT data-file, with logged data, contains at least one DataGroup, one DataSet and one or more Events.
These are all 'data-file elements', each represented by a separate line in your data-file. In order to Copy, Replace or move one or more of those elements (Events as well as DataSets and/or DataGroups), you need to select the required elements.
Single element selection
Clicking on one of those elements selects this item, enabling you to:
oEnter descriptive information into the Transcript area
oPlay back that single element
oEdit the behavioral Code information, as described in Select, Sort & Edit Logged Data.
oCopy the selected element
Multiple selection
If you select multiple elements, those selected elements can be:
oCopied or cut and pasted, like described in copy & paste.
oDragged and dropped somewhere else, like described in drag & drop elements.
oEdited by the Replace command, if you select the option Selected only.
oPlayed automatically, like described in Play marked elements.
oUsed to create a high-light video, as described in VIDEO EDITING - if you own a Highlight Movie Creator license.
There are multiple ways of selecting those elements:
| Manual selection - It is possible to select multiple data lines randomly or in a range, using the default Windows keys SHIFT or CTRL in combination with your mouse. |
•Read Manual selection for further details.
| Selection by search - A more structured selection, based on the selection of a specific Code, is possible as well: |
•Read Selection by Search to learn how that works.
| Select by Independent variables - To make a specific selection of the raw data as well as for the statistics, in huge data-files with many DataSets, Independent variables can be a big help. |
• Read Selection by Search for more information.
| TIP: | You can also combine the Selection by Search method and the Manual Selection of data-file elements: First use one of the search routines as described to select most of the elements needed. Afterwards use the CTRL key to add or remove elements from the selection manually. |
