Audio Features

Recording audio in-sync with your videos is critical and more often quite tricky. Different setups probably require different audio recording equipment because the available microphones have unique strengths and weaknesses.

Below the basics of the most common configurations are listed.

oPer default, in a stationary video lab, the audio signal from a boundary microphone is routed through an audio mixer from which a physical cable runs to each camera. This way, the audio signal is inserted directly into the video stream. No further action is required; each video receives the same audio signal.

oIn our portable video lab (instead of using a separate audio cable per camera), the audio mixer sends the audio signal to the audio encoder, which provides the audio signal on the network.
To integrate the audio signal with the video signal, you need to select the audio encoder source as an external audio source in the VideoSyncPro software. That way, the audio signal is routed to the camera through the network cable, providing all videos with the same audio signal.

oIf you make use of an additional, single wireless microphone, the audio mixer merges its audio signal with that of the boundary microphone; all videos still end up with the same audio track.

oWhen you use separate wireless microphones for each participant, a corresponding audio receiver receives the audio signal from each microphone separately. From this receiver, a physical cable runs to a specific camera (the one recording the participant wearing that particular microphone). In that case, each video receives a unique audio signal per camera.

oIf the cameras in use do NOT offer a separate audio-in socket, it is possible to use a separate audio encoder per camera to insert different audio-signals per video through the network.

oShould your analysis require separate audio files per participant, each participant needs to wear a microphone. The audio signal of each microphone in led to a device (TASCAM) that converts those signals into audio files.

Diese Funktionen und Geräte werden von VideoSyncPro unterstützt:

oAudio Encoder - To transform an analog audio source, like a boundary microphone, into an network stream.

oPush To Talk (PTT) - Enables you to communicate with the participants in the video lab.

oAudio Bridge - Enables you to play specific, prerecorded, sounds during the test to influence the participant behavior.

oMulti-WAV Recorder - To record multiple audio sources and save each source in a separate audio file.
